What is your name and your position at Lively?
My first name is Aminta and my last name is Perez. I am an eighth grade social studies teacher.
What’s your education? What degrees do you hold?
I hold a PHD in history
Because you’re new to Lively, what’s your history in teaching?
I taught for many years at the university of Iowa, and then I taught for several years when i came home for a few years I taught at Mendez Middle School, and then I left again and I went to Indiana, and I taught at an all male liberal arts school called wabash college. And now I came back and I taught at U.T. I taught in a math project at U.T. for two years and then I decided I wanted to come back to teaching 14 year olds because it was so much fun.
What led you to Lively in particular?
Andy Nava was my teaching partner at Mendez. We taught eighth grade social studies together there and he really seemed to like the population here.
What do you like about Lively so far?
I think the students are so much fun and they have great senses of humor, they are very intelligent, they are very interactive, just a lot fun.
What made you become a teacher?
My father was a teacher.
Why do you teach History?
Because I like studying history and I like talking about history, I figured that was the best way to get to know more was to get an education in history and teach others.
Who or what inspires you?
My father.

Getting to know students
If you could take one class here at Lively, what would it be?
Probably the (Model) U.N. class
What’s your favorite subject?
I have a lot of favorite subjects i mean there is no favorite- learning is- I like learning so i like learning about everything.
Where did you go to college?
I got my bachelors degree at texas state and my masters and PHD at the university of Iowa.
What’s your favorite band and song from them?
Probably Lynyrd Skynyrd, Simple Man
What’s your dream vacation?
Somewhere with a very blue ocean
What’s one thing that your students should know about you?
That I’m not kidding.
