Ann Richards is a 6-12th grade all girls combined middle and high school located at 2309 Panther Trail, Austin, TX. ARS is a non-sleepaway, 9 month cycle school. Ann Richards is a public school that starts at 9:05am and ends at 4:35pm.
Highlights about Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders
ARS was developed to be a safe haven for young women to get quality education and opportunities, and to prepare said young women for college. ARS is named after and was partially developed by former Texas Governor Ann Richards. Some of ARS’ crowning achievements include: being ranked the #2 school in all of Austin, and #13 in all of Texas, 168 million dollars in merit based scholarships from 12 graduating classes, and the fact 100% of all students gained admission to college.
Programs – Academics
Ann Richards is a primarily STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), career, and project based school. High school students also have to pick one of three four-year long sequences in a STEM subject: Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, or Media Technology; each with its one special qualities and opportunities including internships, college level laboratories, ect. Each path sets out to prepare students for careers in STEM.
Programs – Sports and Fine Arts
Ann Richards provides a wide variety of both Fine Arts and Athletics. As of right now, Ann Richards has Art, Color Guard, Dance, Theater, Orchestra, Choir, and Band programs, all of which offer different experiences and opportunities. You can read about these fine arts programs here.

Applications
Ann Richards’ application process is simple. First, you visit the enrollment website, where you then select Ann Richards, hit submit, put in your grades from the last semesters, attendance, and student information. You can also send a teacher recommendation form straight to your teacher that will be taken in mind for the applications. Finally, you must mail in an at least two page handwritten paper about either why you’d like to attend Ann Richards or a personal idol/ inspiration in your life.
