Thanksgiving takes place on Thursday November 28th. These are some traditions that students at Lively do for Thanksgiving.
What are some of your family Thanksgiving traditions?
“My grandma cooks fried fish, mashed potatoes, and salad. For dessert she cooks lemon cake, lemon chess pie, chocolate pecan cake, coconut cake, and chocolate pie,” said 6th grader Laithan Carter.
“Usually we always celebrate by inviting my friend Keyra and her family to our house or to their house. We both make food and bring it to eat or we make it together. We eat in my kitchen and almost every time we make tamales verdez that are my favorites. that’s what we always do,” said 6th grader Ximena Zavala-Ramirez.
“My grandma always makes Lemon pie and I think pies are a really important part of Thanksgiving!!!” said 6th grader Louella Montgomery.
“Thanksgiving means stuffing yourself with delicious food and spending quality time with family and friends,” said 6th grader Jett Porter.
“My thanksgiving tradition is driving two hours to get to my grandparents house. Then eating a HUGE meal. Once it gets dark we go on a walk in the trails behind my grandparents house and try to jump scare my aunt,” said 6th grade Josie Markaverich.
“We often go on vacation, but this year I’m staying at home. My family likes to make cranberry sauce, vegetarian stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, some substitute for meat like vegetarian sausage, gravy, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and green beans,” said 6th grader Ezra Gonzales.
“My Thanksgiving tradition is to usually spend time with my family and to make memories. We also usually make a turkey with stuffing,” said 6th grade Andrew Ruiz.
“Well every thanksgiving ever since I was little I made pumpkin pie. At first my grandma helped me make it but now I make it all by myself,” said 6th grade Aubrey Bartz.
“My Thanksgiving tradition is having a big Thanksgiving dinner and seeing relatives,” said 6th grader Desmond Dwyer
“My tradition is to always go to laredo, my home town, and celebrate with my family,” said 7th grader Enrique Padilla.
“We eat turkey,” said 7th grader Henry Logerot
“I make food with my family,” said 8th grader Chance Herrera.
“A tradition we have is that we cook a meal for everyone and we pray for everything we are greatful for and for those who don’t have anything,” said 8th grader Aleida Esteban
“My tradition is making tamales and going around each family member and telling eachother what were thankful for,” said 8th grader Alexa Vera Orozco
“I make apple pie with my mom’s side of the family. With my dad’s side we make apple pumpkin empanadas,” said 8th grader Emmalina Mealey
“Our tradition is eating a big meal together as a family. We always have turkey, corn, potatoes, cranberry sauce, and more,” said 8th grader Aiyana Meshoulam
“I just stuff my face with pumpkin pie,” said 8th grader Roux Kennedy.
“My family always makes a lot of pies, and we host an annual pie party,” said 8th grader Isaac Ruttan.
“A tradition me and my family have is getting butter cookies and making mince meat pie,” said 8th grader Carlene Oates.
