Basic Information
Travis Early College High School is a 9-12, standard nine month high school. Travis’ hours are from 9:05 AM to 4:35 PM and it is located in the south of Austin at 1211 E. Oltorf St.
Programs – Academic
Travis has multiple academic programs, one of the largest being their early college program; where students can obtain up to 60 hours of college credit, or an associates degree, through ACC with paying for tuition, transportation, textbooks, etc. You can start this program as early as your freshman year, with the only requirement being that the student meets the college-readiness requirements. For more information on the early college program go here.
Similarly to the early college program, Travis also offers CTE, or Career and Technology Education, programs. There are six specific courses of study within the CTE program (Design and Multimedia Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Information Technology, and Law & Criminal Justice) and each one sets out to provide students with real life experience and opportunities in their specific field. Information on CTE can be found here. Similar to the CTE program there is a P-Tech program in Hospitality & Tourism. This program is an excellent branch off of the Hospitality CTE course and offers students the opportunity to earn industry certifications and an associates degree at no cost.
Along with these programs, Travis offers advanced academic courses in a variety of different courses including but not limited to: Calculus, Biology, US History, Spanish Language, etc. The continued list and other information on these advanced classes can be found here. Finally, Travis is home to an NJHS program where students, with a GPA at or above 3.50 in grades Sophomore-Senior, can organize events and fundraisers for Travis.
Programs – Athletics and Fine Arts
Travis offers Fine Arts programs in Dance and Dance Team, Visual Arts, Photography, Music, Guitar, the ‘Travis Rebel Marching Band’, Wind Ensemble, and Mariachi Ensemble.
