RAVE Awards are awards given to exceptional staff members in AISD. Anyone who has a connection to AISD (students, parents, staff, teachers, admin, etc.) can recommend a staff member on the AISD website to receive an award. RAVE stands for Recognizing All Valuable Employees and is given to employees who go above and beyond to give students an amazing experience. RAVE awards are a positive experience for everyone involved. Receiving them makes teachers feel appreciated and they give students an opportunity to recognize their teachers.
7th grade ELAR teacher, Shai Zimmerman has received several RAVE awards. “I feel like teaching, you don’t always get to hear or see your impact so it means a lot when someone recognizes it,” said Zimmerman.
Teaching is a difficult job and teachers don’t always get the recognition they deserve. “I work really hard and try to do my best at my job so when people recognize that and show appreciation, the appreciation is then reciprocated. I’m very grateful,” said theater teacher Samantha Gang.
RAVE awards are a great way for students to show their appreciation for teachers. It’s also a positive experience for students as it allows them to ensure their teachers get the recognition they deserve.
“I think that teachers don’t always get the right amount of appreciation for the amount of things they do. … So I think this is a way to make them feel appreciated and loved,” said 8th grader Lucia Atkins.
“We should respect them (teachers) more because that’s what they deserve … they do so much for us,” added 8th grader Chella Pfeifle.
Similarly, 7th grader Alpha Diallo said, “Teachers deserve recognition because they let us grow and allow us to have a good education. They prepare us for careers.”
